Ksour: Fortified villages in the Maghreb region

A ksar is a village or community consisting of attached houses such as granaries and other structures like a mosque, bath, oven, and shops. Ksar (pluralis ksour) means fortified village or fort. A ksar granaries and other structures like a mosque, bath, oven, and shops. Ksour are found in North Africa in the Maghreb region including Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Mauritania and Tunisia. One of the most famous ksour are Ksar Ouled Soltane and Ksar Ezzahra in Tunisia.
